Those who enjoy classical guitar are in for a treat tomorrow when the Pahrump Community Library will welcome David Grimes and Gregory Newton. This will be the duo’s second concert.
Grimes and Newton have performed around the world and are composers and recording artists as well.
The two-hour concert will begin at 2 p.m. in the large conference room.
Grimes is a friend of Pahrump Art Council member Marilyn Dorn and her husband Larry. The couple is responsible for arranging the return engagement.
Grimes is a highly-respected teacher and coach and has served as Director of Guitar Studies at California State University, Fullerton where he developed one of the nation’s leading centers for guitar instruction.
His own compositions are being performed by prominent guitarists all over the world.
Newton completed his doctorate at the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2007.
His specialty is music from North America, Asia and Africa and he frequently gives concerts devoted to those genres.
He is an active composer and arranger and has several recordings to his credit.
The duo will feature special guest Gisle Krogseth.
Although the concert admission is free, donations to the library will be accepted.
