Fall Festival through Sunday, Luau in Tecopa tomorrow

The Fall Festival tops the activities this weekend, but there are other celebrations and fundraisers happening from here to Tecopa.

A fundraiser to benefit the Goldwell Open-Air Museum is set for 6 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Tecopa Hot Springs Resort. The event is a joint effort of the museum and the Tecopa Artists Group.

The event offers genuine Hawaiian musicians, dancers and other performances. There will be authentic food available. For ticket information, go to www.goldwellmuseum.org.

The band “Playground” is scheduled to play at the Maverick Dance Hall &Saloon starting at 8 p.m. Sept. 27.

The Kiwanis are sponsoring “Laughing Under the Stars” at Sanders Family Winery both Sept. 26 and 27. Originally, the show was going to be one night only, however, the comedians agreed to a second performance Saturday evening.

Gates open at 6, show begins around 7:30 and everyone is invited to bring snacks or a picnic. Wine and other beverages will be available. Tickets are $20 and proceeds support the Kiwanis scholarship fund.

Grape Stomp is coming up Oct. 4 and 5 at Pahrump Valley Winery. The gates will open at 11 a.m. both days and general admission is $5.

There will be vendors, live music, a huge wine sale and, of course, stomping.

Stairway to Heaven Dance Competition is set for next Saturday, Oct. 4 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Maverick Saloon &Dance Hall.

The annual event benefits the Friends of Nathan Adelson Hospice Building Fund.

Pahrump Valley Rotary is planning for its annual $10,000 Cash Extravaganza from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Oct. 12, at Mountain Falls.

A silent auction, raffle drawings, wine and beer tasting, music, guest speakers and a prime rib buffet are scheduled for the event.

Tickets for the event are $75 per person with an additional $20 for the buffet. Reservations for the buffet must be made in advance. Call either 727-5222 or 751-8228 for tickets and more information.
