Rotary Club’s annual $10,000 drawing scheduled

The Pahrump Valley Rotary Club has scheduled its annual Cash Extravaganza fundraiser on Oct. 16, where a lucky winner will walk away with $10,000.

The Rotary Club is hosting their annual inside the Grill Room at Mountain Falls. Club President Ryan Mucchio said tickets for the drawing at the event are now on sale.

“The tickets are $75 this year, which gets two people into the event and one ticket for the $10,000 cash drawing,” he said.

Mucchio also made certain to mention the $75 entry does not include dinner this year.

“It used to be $125, but we actually lowered it because there were some people that did not want to eat dinner and ended up paying a higher price,” he said. “This will take place on October 16, at Mountain Falls. It will start at 2 p.m. and run till about 5:30 or 6 p.m.”

Those who prefer to dine at the event, Mucchio said, won’t be disappointed.

“It is $75 for the entry ticket and just $25 for a beautiful prime rib dinner,” he said. “If you don’t want to partake in the dinner, just come on out and have some fun with us because you can still have two people at the event with the $75 ticket, which includes one entry for all of the prize and cash drawings.”

Among the prizes, Mucchio said is a 50/50 cash drawing, which is separate from the $10,000 drawing. The rotary has given away upward of $300,000 in the last 30 years

“Last year it was more than $900 for the winner,” he said. “We will also have a free, fun photo booth with a bunch of different props, which is always a lot of fun.”

Mucchio noted that last year’s winner has attended the event for at least a decade.

He also said those who purchase their ticket before Sept. 1, will receive a $1,000 bonus to the $10,000 cash prize if their ticket is drawn.

Those who purchase a ticket after Sept. 1, but before October 1, will get a $500 bonus.

“Our 2015 winner was Diane Snyder and it was really fun because she had purchased the same ticket for the past 10 years,” he said. “This past year, she decided to buy a different numbered ticket and she won the $11,000.”

Tickets, Mucchio said, are now on sale at Roy Mankins’ Allstate Insurance at 1271 S. Highway 160, Suite A, or at Kathryn Weill’s Allstate Insurance at 150 S. Highway 160, Suite 5, among several other options.

“You can go to either Allstate Insurance office in town or you can call any Rotarian in town,” he said. “People can also visit us each Tuesday at the China Wok on Highway 160 at noon for our meetings and of course they can get tickets there.”

The annual Cash Extravaganza giveaway, Mucchio said, helps to fund numerous altruistic projects in the community.

“We routinely build wheelchair ramps for elderly and disabled residents in town,” he said. “We also pay for the pool fees at the town pool during the month of July, among various other community projects that we support, such as the school district and other people in need.”

Mountain Falls Grill room is located in the community of the same name at 5001 Clubhouse Drive on the south end of town.
