It’s been a while since Don McIntosh, transportation director for the Pahrump Senior Center, planned a seniors’ getaway. The trip on the agenda for April 22-25 is back by popular demand.
McIntosh said his passengers always have a great time on the bus trips — especially the overnight trips where they can really get out and see some of the nearby countryside.
McIntosh has chartered a luxury bus for a trip to Reno, visits to Carson City and Virginia City, and a daytime excursion to Lake Tahoe.
McIntosh said, “People interested in the lawmaking process can visit the capital building while the Legislature is in session.” The tour will be conducted by District 36 Assemblyman James Oscarson’s secretary.
The group will be staying at Harrah’s in Reno for three nights and use it as a starting point for the tours.
On the way north, the bus will stop in Tonopah for lunch and a tour of the historic Mizpah Hotel.
The property has been renovated by the new owners and is open for business.
The bus will leave the upper part of Wulfy’s parking lot at 8 a.m. April 22 and return at around 6 p.m. April 25.
McIntosh said he is currently looking for a documentary movie on the history of Nevada to show on the bus. A comedy movie will be shown on the return trip.
Tickets are $225 per person, based on double occupancy.
There will be a coupon book available to passengers when the bus gets to Harrah’s. McIntosh said it’s worth $240 in discounts, free play, two-for-one buffets and other things available at Harrah’s.
Reservations must be made and paid no later than April 8. Call McIntosh from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 775-751-6860 to make yours. Seating is limited and these trips tend to be very popular.
