[AUXILIARY DINNER]

The Ladies Auxiliary wants you to join them for dinner at the VFW post 10054 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Ladies Auxiliary, founded in 1914, is the backbone of the VFW volunteer efforts. The Ladies Auxiliary promotes patriotism and helps many veterans in need. The address of the VFW is 4651 Homestead Road.

The Pahrump Community Pool is open for free swim throughout the three-day Fourth of July weekend. Friday and Sunday will be courtesy of the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce, and Saturday’s tab will be picked up by Valley Cruisers of Pahrump.

FRIDAY, JULY 3

Friday is the kick-off day for this year’s 2015 Liberty Festival starting at noon until 9 p.m. Stage entertainment at Petrack Park will start at 2 p.m. with Las Vegas reggae musician Stan Rankin T, ending at 3:30 p.m., starting back up again at 6 p.m. with Dean West performing until 8 p.m.

SATURDAY, JULY 4

The second day of the Liberty Festival will be kicking off with the annual VFW pancake breakfast at the Calvada Eye starting at 6:30 a.m., following with the Veterans Parade at the Calvada Eye at 9 a.m. , and the kids’ Bicycle and Wagon Parade starting at noon. Festivities will be going on at Petrack Park with stage entertainment from Kali Williams, Kim’s Lonesome Road Band, and On Target. Concluding with the annual fireworks show at sundown.

The third and final day of the Liberty Festival. Free swim and the Chamber Trailer will be selling donuts and coffee.

The Pahrump Valley Museum will display the acclaimed war memorial “Always Lost: A Meditation on War,” from July 4-18, 2015. The arts and humanities exhibition includes the faces and names of the nearly 7,000 U.S. service members who perished in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Independence Day is opening day for viewing “Always Lost” at the museum. The exhibition will open for viewing at the Pahrump Valley Museum, 401 East Basin Avenue, and Tuesdays through Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

TUESDAY, JULY 7

The Nye County Commission is holding its first meeting of the new fiscal year at 10 a.m. The meeting is at the County Commission Chambers, 2100 E. Walt Williams Drive. Renewal licensing of Nye’s five brothels, and medical pot cultivation facility license discussions are both on the agenda.
