Music at Sanders, movies, and fundraisers

There are only two more performances scheduled for the courtyard at Sanders Family Winery.

Tommy Thompson and the Thompson Project will perform with Jeannie Snow beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday evening.

Winery owner Jack Sanders said even if the weather is inclement, the “show will go on. You’d be surprised how fast we can move it inside.”

The doors open at 6 p.m. for wine tasting. Participants are invited to bring snacks or a picnic. It is advisable to reserve a table for your party by calling 727-1776.

The final show will be the Johnny Cash Tribute Show set for next Saturday.

She will hold her first Community Sewing Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the multi-purpose room at NyECC.

The project is a multi-tasking workshop to benefit the homeless students here. Johnston said, “It’s a very simple sewing task to make fabric drawstring bags for the students.

“There will be some hand work for those who cannot sew. Anyone who can, is asked to bring machines or surgers.”

She said fabric can be purchased from Stockert’s Crafts on Basin Avenue. The fabric is already cut to size. The “fat quarters” are on sale for $1.

Johnston said the project also needs all types of fabric half-yard or larger and sewing notions.

There will be a box to collect socks for the students and personal care items such as toothbrushes, shampoo, Kleenex, toothpaste, etc. Call 751-5356 for more information.
