There is a big, fat gravy-train in our capital today — and it’s the Democratic Party that’s being lead by their conductor, President Obama.
Our country will not continue to exist with millions of our citizens on welfare, food stamps and several other kinds of government programs. They must have an opportunity to find jobs.
Will you have a job next year? It doesn’t look good unless we get a leadership change in Washington D.C.
Most important, there appears to be a definite Islamic atmosphere in Washington D.C. Do you want to live in a Muslim country? If not, you must not vote for the Democrats in November.

It is too late. Every democracy in history failed for the exact reason you posted. And we too will fail and if lucky will not end up like Yogoslavia after the collapse of the former Soviet Union.
Just how the hell do we as a Nation get 47,000,000 people off food stamps?
Just how the hell do we as a nation get millions off welfare? And all the other government programs that are suppose to help people?
No new leadership can bring the jobs back from off shore without a corresponding change in government regulations and tax structure. And no one is talking about that.

Amazing how you mention welfare in regards to the U.S. citizen. What about the millions/billions of dollars spent on corporate welfare? Does Exxon (to name one) need these welfare programs? Large corporations have been destroying unions,reducing pay/benefits and laying off their their employees for the last 15 years in order to increase shareowner and CEO profits. Now, when some people (like the President) starts asking questions about all the welfare programs going to companies who have been making record profits, these companies try to change the spin and say that “it’s all those lazy people out there causing this poor economy. Give me a break! If these people were paid a decent wage & given the same medical benefits their CEO’s get, maybe people could afford to purchase some of these products and not have to rely on the safety net we as Americans should provide. This is a complex problem. Both sides have to come together to come up with workable solutions.
I know newspapers print letters from readers to stimulate discussion and they take input from all points of view, from mainstream to wildly extreme. I take this as a prime example of the latter.
Edwin Holstad I think you should turn off Faux news because it is rotting your brain. First of all, President Obama is a Christian, not a Muslim. Anyone with at least a half ounce of brains knows this.
Second, do you know who the food stamp President was? George Bush, Jr. followed by his daddy. More people were put on food stamps under their respective Presidencies than any other.
Also, last year the United States paid out approximately 48 billion in social welfare programs. Corporate welfare was almost DOUBLE that amount at 92 billion. Why don’t you complain about that? Perhaps if big time Republican like the Wal-Mart heirs paid their employees a living wage, we taxpayers wouldn’t have to subsidize their wages with food stamps. Ever think of that?
Finally, if you are a working man and you vote for any Republican for any office, you are like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders.

You are correct, most news outlets put their spin on events, but Fox is the most blatant user. They make no excuses about bias, not just in their opinion journalists, it’s there in their sofa-sitting, blonde-hair wearing, mantra-repeating talking heads who purport to be Fair and Balanced.

Well, Ed, I don’t want to live by Mormon rules either. Romney wants to bring his religious beliefs to the White house. Obama is a Christian but doesn’t try to insist everyone believe the way he does. If you don’t want to live by Romney’s religious beliefs, then don’t vote Republican.
Fix the problem………….not the blame. I tured off the TV over 2 months ago because I am tired of the political commercials: he said, he did, he didn’t. Now I get on this forum.
I don’t give a damn who wins because it will not be a win for me. But a vote for Romney could change the direction of this Nation because of the one thing he will have the power to do. It is very possible that he may well have the luck to pick up to 4 new Supreme Court Judges that are conservative and honor the Constitution. A very important deciwsion for our country more than anything else except going to War.

Unbelievable,,,so many people of all ages,,many are young,tryig to scam a way on wefare. I have met too many whose life abition is to get on SSI,,get a $750 check each month,,,get free rent, get a free Obama phone to do drug deals on and food stamps..I think they all should be made to do some kind of work,,or at least be mabe to show up 6 hours a day 5 days a week for educational classes..bet that would make a lot of these bums go to work. Most of the people I have met in this town scamming Social Security and welfare work under the table and spend most of theor free money on drugs ,gambling and in the bars drinking,,

Detroit was going Bankrupt and all our friends and family were being laid off. Every President, even Regan provided a stimulus package that helped turn the economy around.

The budget for our social safety net is just 1% of our budget. We have always been a christian based nation. We look out for each other.
The vision for our nation is vastly different…Currently, the new Tea party Republicans, backed by the big corporations and billionaires, represented by Romney, Ryan and Republicans in office, want to replace Medicare with vouchers that wouldn’t keep up with health care cost. Privatize Social Security & Medicare. Behind closed doors, Romney said he wants to eliminate the Dept of Education and HUD. He plans to starve off funding a little at a time.
Hmm, so much for Seniors over 55 years old who think they are SAFE from Romney’s VOUCHER PROGRAM. Try to find insurance when Pre-existing Conditions are NOT covered. I am a Republican who is voting in the best interest of my family…I hope you do too!
