Tigers running around in Pahrump a myth, nothing more

We have known Tina Trenner and her husband Doug to be leaders of the animal rights movement from Las Vegas. They have been arrested for impersonating humane officials in Ohio, when they were working for PETA.

Since they have moved from Vegas —with an agenda — to Nye County, their sole objective is to commandeer our rural lifestyle with animals. This is not intended to be a “back and forth” argument, but purely to illuminate who the players are that would attempt to deny due process and interfere and treat others differently because of their despise of others’ lifestyle choices.

Again, to parrot a ten-year-old “alleged” action is a cue from that four letter word groups playbook. Admit what you are Ms. Trenner … a PETA person with a long and well known history as a disciple of hatred for our choices to live with animals in a loving, peaceful, healthy, rural and safe environment.

You obviously have little regard for others’ basic human rights as described in the Constitution and the Bible. Your “all-knowing” indictment of our lifestyle is proof of your arrogance and sense of self-importance.

The FCC took your radio broadcasting license due to your activities. Take a walk on your sidewalk to nowhere … (Hwy. 372) and keep our name out of your mouth.

There is no record or proof of animals ever, ever, escaping from Karl Mitchell or Big Cat Encounters.

The continued rehash of a folk tale of tigers “running” around Pahrump is just that, a fabrication and folk tale.

Just ask Mr. McCarty at Animal Control. He will confirm that this myth is just that.

Was wondering who they were.. knowing that they are PETA tells me they are right off the bat, lying. I don’t have a problem with the cats out there, and PETA seems to have nothing other than fear mongering (Which is something the left is amazingly good at, just look how they tried to take our gun rights with it recently) in their book of tricks these days. As someone who keeps livestock on his property, let it be known that if any of these freaks show up on my property, they will be trespassed and removed by force if need be. This is Nye county, we dont play these games.

Wrong. Karl had to shoot a tiger that escaped when he lived on Oakridge in 2002. I was there. He was evicted yet from another property as he had been many times. He is a convicted felon and has not paid his fines. When I was cleaning the Oakridge property up for his partner after he was evicted, I found dead animals still on chains tied to bushes. I found a tiger cub body wrapped in a piece of rug. No defense for his unethical treatment of animals. Lon

With a reply like that I can tell for sure the radical animal rights nuts are in town. Oh well, you may think you can mess with this guy, but as Sam said above, you start messing with people’s pets, livestock and horses, and you will not like the results. We all know what this is about, its hitting the low hanging fruit like this tiger guy, and then moving on to all of us and our animals or pets.

The USDA’s position is very clear regarding this individual and his history with them is on line for the whole world to read – no secrets. They are denying him necessary permits due to his long history of abuse and neglect of his animals and because he still owes thousands of dollars in fines. He is still under investigation by the USDA. Anyone at anytime can go on line and see all there is to see. . . . .

  4. Kayla Mitchell says:

There are NO fines owed to anyone and NO pending investigation from USDA. Jus sayin….

  5. JC says:

Please see the letter from Dr. Robert M Gibbens of the USDA dated October 12, 2012 which is available on line at http://nv-nyecounty.civicplus.com/DocumentCenter/View/21921

According to the letter Karl Mitchell was assessed civil penalties in the amount of $67,000 and an additional civil penalty of $19,500. “The civil penalties have not been paid.” Karl Mitchell is barred by the USDA from being licensed due to his long history. The letter is available for all to see! Jus sayin. . . .

  6. JC says:

Correction: The letter from Dr. Gibbens of the USDA is dated October 22, 2012.

  7. Kayla Mitchell says:

Im sorry, JC, I am married to Karl and know EXACTLY what the truth is. I am here to tell you, that is UNTRUE. We do NOT owe ANYTHING and do NOT have any pending investigations. Seeing how I am with him 24/7 and am living in this reality…I would just like to also say, that, I have NEVER seen Karl in any way shape or form, harm, abuse or neglect ANY animal….EVER!! These animals LOVE Karl. Karl is the most compassionate, caring, funny, intelligent human being I have ever known. I proud to be his wife and I will defend him and our animals until my dying breath. I live this life with him, NO ONE else on this planet. I don’t know all what everyone is talking about that has happened in the past…I wasn’t there. But I know what I know, here and now and for the past couple of years. I wouldn’t have married him if he was anything what you all “claim” him to be. I am here to say it again, in case you missed it……WE HAVE NO FINES OWED AND NO PENDING INVESTIGATION!!! Regardless of you what you read on the internet….jus sayin!! :)

Kayla, I think you should take that up with Dr. Gibbens of the USDA: Director, Western Region, USDA, APHIS, Animal Care, 2150 Centre Avenue, Building B, Ft. Collins, CO, 80526. Phone number: 970-494-7478. It sounds like someone is in extreme denial.

  9. Kayla Mitchell says:

I am sitting here, in my living room looking around….I don’t see you or anyone else sitting here, so how can YOU tell ME what I know. Like I said, I live this life, no one else. I know the truth, I live it. There is no denying anything, but the truth….I guess I can say it again….THERE ARE NO FINES OWED TO ANYONE AND NO PENDING INVESTIGATION!! Thank you.

  10. Kayla Mitchell says:

EVERY THING HAS BEEN RESOLVED!! But of course that is isn’t posted on the internet…just the negative.

  11. JC says:

I don’t think Dr. Gibbens would risk his high ranking position and put false information out for the public to see. However, if you are in possession of a more recent document that might dispute Dr. Gibbens’ letter of October 22, 2012 in which he clearly states that the penalties have not been paid and that Karl Mitchell has been banned from obtaining permits, why not make it available for all to see!

  12. Kayla Mitchell says:

    All in due time.

Pahrump doesn’t need a movie theater with this kind of entertainment. When do the TV guys start filming “Animal Cops Pahrump”? I’ll sponsor. The East coast crowd will love it.

Ms. Mitchell, please learn your facts & do not respond out of sheer emotion. Following is an excerpt of USDA Decisions, January-June 2001, inclusive. Mr. Mitchell was issued a cease & desist order. It is still in place & has never been quashed. This was under the auspices of All Acting Animals and not Big Cat Encounters. The facts speak for themselves.

    KARL MITCHELL et. al.
    60 Agric. Dec. 91
    Part 1 (General)

In re: KARL MITCHELL, AN INDIVIDUAL; AND ALL ACTING ANIMALS, A SOLE PROPRIETORSHIP OR UNINCORPORATED ASSOCIATION.
    AWA Docket No. 01-0016.
Decision and Order filed June 13, 2001.

Failure to file timely answer – Exhibitor – Animal welfare – Interference with inspectors – Access to facilities – Recordkeeping – Housekeeping – Shelter – Perimeter fence – Space – Food storage – Water – Pest control – Adequacy of complaint – Extension of time – Sanction policy – Civil penalty – Cease and desist order – License revocation.

The Judicial Officer affirmed, except with respect to three conclusions of law, the Default Decision issued by Administrative Law Judge Dorothea A. Baker (ALJ) assessing Respondents a civil penalty, revoking Respondents’ Animal Welfare Act (AWA) license, and ordering Respondents to cease and desist from violating the AWA and the Regulations and Standards issued under the AWA. The Judicial Officer deemed Respondents’ failure to file a timely answer to the Complaint an admission of the allegations in the Complaint (7 C.F.R. § 1.136(c)) and a waiver of hearing (7 C.F.R. § 1.139). The Judicial Officer rejected Respondents’ contention that Complainant’s counsel granted Respondents an extension of time within which to file Respondents’ answer. The Judicial Officer held that under 7 C.F.R. § 1.147(f) only an administrative law judge or the Judicial Officer may grant extensions of time. The Judicial Officer also stated that Respondents’ reliance on the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure for their contention that they should be allowed to file a late answer, was misplaced. The Judicial Officer stated that the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure are not applicable to administrative proceedings instituted under the AWA and the Rules of Practice. The Judicial Officer also rejected Respondents’ contention that the Complaint did not provide Respondents with adequate notice of the facts involved in the proceeding. The Judicial Officer found the Complaint met the requirements of 5 U.S.C. § 554(b) and 7 C.F.R. § 1.135(a) and complied with the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. The Judicial Officer concluded that, as a matter of law, Respondents could not have committed three of the violations alleged in the Complaint. Based on the conclusion that Respondents did not commit all the violations alleged in the Complaint, the size of Respondents’ business, and the lack of any allegation that Respondents’ animals actually suffered injury, dehydration, or malnutrition, the Judicial Officer reduced the $27,500 civil penalty assessed by the ALJ to $15,250.

    Colleen A. Carroll, for Complainant.
    J. Oscar Shaw, Las Vegas, Nevada, for Respondents.
Initial decision issued by Dorothea A. Baker, Administrative Law Judge.
Decision and Order issued by William G. Jenson, Judicial Officer.
