County to review treasurer reports at Tuesday meeting

TONOPAH — County commissioners will do a status check on the process of reconciling treasurers reports to bank statements by the county treasurer’s office, at the 10 a.m. meeting here Tuesday.

The meeting can be viewed by video conference from the Nye County commissioner’s chambers at 2100 Walt Williams Dr. on the Calvada Eye in Pahrump.

County treasurer Mike Maher was given a deadline of Dec. 31 to reconcile the reports from March through June so the county audit can be completed.

The job fell largely to Nye County Deputy Treasurer Kim Lara. County treasurer reports from March through October were criticized as incomplete by county commissioner Joni Eastley, who threatened legal action against Nye County Treasurer Mike Maher.

In other business, commissioners will revisit a proposal from Nevada Health Centers to operate the Beatty and Amargosa Valley clinics through 2013.

Preliminary grant applications for county airports in Beatty, Tonopah and Gabbs will be up for approval.

The Nye County Licensing and Liquor Board will consider a package liquor license for the Martell Market, 1775 Amargosa Farm Road in Amargosa Valley and two additional managers for the Walmart Supercenter.

A proposal from Floyd’s Construction to repair a Utilities Inc. fire hydrant damaged by the county road department during shoulder work at Dandelion and Antelope streets will be considered under the consent agenda, in which a number of items can be approved with one motion.

Pavement markings for bike paths on the Dandelion Street road improvement project between Highway 160 and Calvada Boulevard will be considered on the consent agenda.

The purchase of 34 exterior panels for a building at the Amargosa Valley Science and Technology Park is also up for approval under consent.

Commissioners will also consider buying a 2012 Chevrolet Express, 12-passenger van from state purchasing for $22,500 for juvenile probation.

A bill amending the Gabbs transient lodging business license tax will be considered during a 10:45 a.m. timed item.

Commissioners will also set a date for a public hearing on a bill repealing the Beatty room tax ordinance and enacting a transient lodging business license tax.
