Mail Box tampering reported on Bourbon Street in Pahrump
Mail theft is not a usual occurrence in the Pahrump area, though there have been some recent incidents, according to the Nye County Sheriff’s Office.
Early last week, several mailboxes were tampered with early last week on Bourbon Street, which sits just east of Highway 372, between Red Butte Street and just north of Pahrump Valley Boulevard, the Nye County Sheriff’s Office said.
The incident is still under investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
The incident comes on the heels of many member-owners of Valley Electric Association being sent premium checks, due to the approval of the sale of the association’s 164 miles of a 230-kilovolt high-voltage transmission system to GridLiance Holdco. Valley’s sale was approved in August by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
The premium checks, totaling more than $10 million, were mailed to the more than 17,500 association members on Sept. 15, Valley Electric reported in a news release.
At this point, it is unknown if any premium checks were stolen during the incident on Bourbon Street, the sheriff’s office said.
