Motorcyclist air lifted after collision with car

Pahrump Valley Times

One person was critically injured after a car and motorcycle collided at the intersection of Irene and Leslie Streets Tuesday afternoon.

The motorcyclist was air lifted from the scene of the accident as the two people traveling in a tan sedan were evaluated by Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue personnel.

After being checked out by first responders, the passengers in the car refused medical transport from the scene, Fire Chief Scott Lewis said.

It was unclear to authorities at the time of the accident who was at fault for the collision.

Lewis said the investigation had been turned over to Nye County Sheriff’s officers who were at the scene trying to piece together what happened.

The intersection was shut down and blocked off as authorities worked to treat patients and document the scene.

Cars were then redirected around the scene or turned around so as not to disturb the investigation.

A black skid mark was clearly visible across the roadway leading to where the motorcycle lay damaged on its side.

Pieces from the vehicles lay scattered across the intersection and it appeared as though a nearby fence had been struck in the accident as well.

Lewis said the motorcyclist’s injuries may have been life-threatening, but nothing further would be known until he was evaluated in an emergency room.
