PV taxi asks to discontinue service for six months

Pahrump Valley Times

Pahrump residents who need a taxi may have to wait a while.

Pahrump Valley Taxi filed a petition with the Nevada Transportation Authority for a temporary discontinuance from Jan. 29 through July 29, spokesman Marilyn Skibinski said Wednesday.

That follows complaints about taxis not being available and calls to Pahrump Valley Taxi that went to an answering machine.

Owner Jit Mann told the PVT Tuesday his business wasn’t closed down, that he was simply rehiring drivers. Pahrump Valley Taxi was shut down for about a month in June 2011 for a restructuring.

Skibinski said in Wednesday’s newspaper article Mann would have to continue operating the taxi service unless he filed an application to transfer his Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to another owner or filed an application for a voluntary cancellation.

I just love it. Asking PERMISSION from the government to stop doing business. Sounds like the Soviet Union or WWII Germany.

I was leaving my car a a auto shop one time and it took over an hour so I cancelled when I got another ride. When I called the last time they said it would still be another 20-30 minutes. Crazy.
