Water Cooler: Clothing designer, entertainment and pictures and competition

Anyone visionary looking for that perfect outfit but is unable to find it on the rack can get custom clothing made especially for them at the new Mimosa’s Design located at 1491 Highway 372.

Marissa Reynoso said she has been designing clothes for herself since she was just a child.

After marrying husband Bill and having her three children, she began designing clothing for them as well.

Reynoso said, “I finally went to school in New York to learn my craft. Now I can design anything.”

The custom shop is also a clothing store. Reynoso said she currently stocks women’s clothing in small, medium, large and extra-large, but plans to add men’s clothing and plus sizes for women.

“We have a small shop and space is limited.” Still, she has a selection of jewelry, shoes and other accessories.

“I have really beautiful shoes,” she said. “All I ever wanted was to see people be comfortable and look beautiful in their clothes.” She also designs children’s clothing.

Reynoso will offer alteration and custom tailoring as well.

The store carries T-shirts, jeans and casual items as well as long “dressy” dresses.

Reynoso lived in New York before moving to Las Vegas seven years ago. She has been in Pahrump since 2009.

The store will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Anderson’s Sounds & Shots for special events

Sandy and Joe Anderson manage a storage facility here and have taken on an outside business providing karaoke, DJ services and photography for special events such as weddings, receptions, engagement parties, corporate events and family get-togethers.

Sandy said the couple opened the business about four months ago to “make a little money.”

“We have reasonable rates for our services. The economy is slow and we know it’s hard for people to afford what they want.

Joe is from California where he sang for country and western bands and performed classic rock. He moved here eight years ago and married Sandy six years ago.

Joe is the “sound” half of Sounds & Shots. He is currently providing karaoke for Karma’s Saloon on Thursday nights and for the Hideaway on Saturday.

“Joe has a great voice,” Sandy said. “We’ve done weddings where all they wanted was for Joe to sing.”

Sandy said she took photography in high school but has been taking pictures for family and friends “forever.”

“I learned with a manual camera where you had to know what all camera settings were for. When the digital age came along, it was less complicated and it gives the photographer more time to compose the picture and not worry so much about the camera.”

There is more information about the business on www.andersonsshotsandsounds.com or by calling 775-990-6235.
