Tail’s End thankful for donations

To our friends in the community: Tails End, the animal shelter for Nye County, has found itself the grateful recipient of an enormous amount of good will and some really extraordinary donations this past week.

We have two angels who would prefer to stay anonymous but have been incredibly generous. Among the long list of donated items were 4 six-foot-tall cat condos that can be used in the shelter or when off-site for adoption days.

They also donated over $300 in items used on a daily basis, things like kitty litter, bleach, soaps, dog shampoo and much, much more. And their intent is to continue supporting the shelter because they are so pleased with how Tail’s End treats the dogs and cats that are being cared for until permanent homes can be found.

We had a lovely surprise when the local 4-H Club stopped by to bring us the $70 they had raised. It is always so encouraging when young people take up a cause and support it of their own volition. And the young people in 4-H and the young people of Pahrump in general are a kind and generous group and we are very lucky to have them here in our community.

Frank and Jane Carbone are also one of the supportive couples in our community. To say we were thrilled when Jane stopped in with bags of much-needed items, especially the collars and leads, is to say the very least. The staff had gotten to the stage of hoarding what leads they could find, and then in walked Jane with dozens of really pretty leads and collars long with other much-needed, daily use items. It was a wonderful surprise for the entire staff.

And the biggest surprise this week came with Girl Scout Troop 67, several of the girls and their two leaders arrived bearing amazing gifts. The girls in the troop had built, stained and decorated 2 huge, beautiful, wooden benches for the side yards at the shelter. The benches will be used by pet owners waiting for their pets at the clinic or by pet buyers taking their potential new family members out to the yard to see how they interact with the two-legged family members. The girls also donated a collapsible kennel for those times when we are off-site with a dog.

There really are no words to express how grateful we all are for the incredible generosity of our community members and the continued support of Pahrumpians. We are truly blessed and appreciative. There are really many more supporters that we deeply appreciate, but the above all happened in one week. Pretty impressive.

Thank you Pahrump.

Union clarifies support

The Association of Nye County Juvenile Probation Officers where mistakenly placed in a letter by the Nye County Law Enforcement Association as endorsing Sharon Wehrly for Nye County Sheriff. The juvenile probation officers are members of their own union, and have decided to remain neutral this election.
