‘The coming’ of CCA

Let me be objective. The reality is that it’s there and, like it or not, we must live with it.

Now let’s deal with something that needs to be addressed — Mesquite Avenue.

East of Highway 160 it was two lanes and is still two lanes. There is no full turning lane off 160 north or is there a turning lane on to 160 going west on Mesquite. Why?

Is Corrections Corporation of America required to put in a light on Highway 160 and pay for it in full? If not, why not?

In addition to the residents who reside in the area, there’s what is in store for this road traffic-wise: detention center traffic of employees, prisoner vans, buses, visitors and police vehicles; landfill users; refuse company garbage trucks; rock quarry; other companies; and, all of road zoned commercial for future building.

By the way, add traffic coming east to Highway 160.

It seems to me that we need awareness to what I’ve outlined — not to close our eyes and simply pray that nothing tragic happens.

So, to all of you in positions of government authority, rise to the occasion and take action.
