VEA continues to receive recognition

In recent months, Valley Electric Association Inc. (VEA) has received recognition on a local and statewide level as a result of our cooperative’s innovative renewable energy efforts and our ongoing commitment to building a positive work environment for employees.

VEA was among 12 companies honored by Nevada Business Magazine as the state’s Best Companies to Work For in 2014. This is a significant achievement for VEA, and it would not have been possible without the continued support of our devoted team members.

We take pride in offering a work environment that rewards employees for supporting VEA’s member-focused mission and encourages them to play an active role in fostering the development of innovative ideas.

I believe we received this award as a result of VEA’s dedication to providing employees with comprehensive benefits and unique opportunities to advance their careers. We have one of the most skilled and motivated workforces in the nation, and VEA is proud to support the employees who play such a critical role in our cooperative’s ongoing success.

I encourage community members to read the August issue of Nevada Business Magazine, which includes a story that highlights VEA’s many employee-focused efforts. The magazine is also available online at www.nevadabusiness.com.

In addition to the recognition from Nevada Business Magazine, VEA also recently received a prestigious 2014 Green Award from the Las Vegas Business Press. Our cooperative received this award as a result of our innovative Domestic Solar Water Heating Program, which provides VEA members with improved access to energy-saving technology. This Green Award belongs to the VEA members and Ambassadors who made significant contributions to the development and success of the Domestic Solar Water Heating Program.

These recent awards serve to highlight VEA’s commitment to excellence in all aspects of our operations. With the support of our member-owners and employees, we look forward to receiving additional recognition in the future.

Tom Husted has served as the CEO of VEA since 2006. He has more than 30 years of experience in the utility industry across the Western United States, including more than 20 years as a CEO. Each monthly edition of VEA’s Ruralite magazine features a column from Husted, offering his thoughts about issues affecting the cooperative and the communities it serves.
