Four players shoot in the 80s to give team second place

Kelby Lindberg led his team against Western last Monday with a 9-over par 81. Lindberg finished in tenth-place overall and Pahrump took second place with a 427. Faith Lutheran finished with a 377 in first and Spring Valley finished in third place with a 431.

Lindberg had one of the best golf days of the season, recording a birdie, five bogeys and one double bogey. He blasted his season low by 11 strokes.

Coach Robert Hopkins likes the direction the team is headed.

“We are getting better,” he said. “We have not been able to practice much lately because of so many matches. If we shoot below 450 on the Wednesday match at Angel Park we will qualify for the regional.”

He qualified his last statement by saying the team could actually shoot a little higher than that and still qualify for the regional.

Hopkins still believes his team can go even lower than what they have been shooting.

“I didn’t feel we shot as good as we should have last week at Las Vegas Muni,” the coach said. “As far as for the region, our goal is to still finish in the top 3 and make it to state.”

All year long the scores have been improving. Austen Ancel carded an 82, Derrek Moore an 85, Drake Asuncion an 87, Canen Hastings a 92, and Mike Hildebrand a 93.

The Trojans are at Clark today.
