Movie extras needed at PV speedway

The speedway will have an extra component to it on Saturday. Besides the usual racing, a movie production company called Romeo Sampson Pictures will be there filming a movie called “Poor Boy.”

According to Kristin Mann, the movie’s producer, the film is about two misfit brothers that hustle and scam their way through Southern Nevada.

“This is uncharted territory,” she said. “There are so few films that have been made in the deserts of Nevada.”

The production company will be filming at 7 p.m. and will try not to alter the schedule of the races.

“We need extras to sit in the stands and that is about it,” Mann said. “The people just need to sit and cheer as they normally do. We will be filming the normal races and some filming will also take place in the pit area.”

The film stars Lou Taylor Pucci and Dov Tiefenbach. The lead actress is Amy Ferguson.

Chad Broadhead, the speedway promoter and operator, said the production company had done some filming already at the last race.

Mann said the movie is scheduled to wrap on May 29 and will be out in film festivals throughout 2016.

The Pahrump Valley Speedway is located at 1881 Grieco Way. Races start at 7 p.m. and the gates open at 6 p.m. The prices for tickets are as follows: $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $6 for kids. Children 5 and under are free. For more information, call 702-328-8101.
