PERFECTLY NOCKY: Roach bowls 22nd career 300 game

Nocky Roach, one of Pahrump’s more prolific bowlers, recorded the 22nd perfect game of his 38-year career Wednesday night at the Pahrump Nugget Bowling Center.

Roach, who also has a dozen 800 series at the Nugget, bowled 12 consecutive strikes in the second game for the 300, then added another five strikes in the third game. He had a 765 series, with games of 223-300-242. In five frames, Roach flattened nine pins and converted the spare after each. He had only one open frame the sixth in game three .

Roach formerly bowled on the PBA tour and was an All-Army selection in Hawaii after the 1989-90 season.

Roach recently had a 768 series in the Coffee League II, where he is averaging 220. In the Monday Christmas League, Roach averages 217, and he is at 216 in the Funtime Bowlers League.

It is tournament season throughout southwest Nevada, with several events scheduled for the next few weeks.

The Nugget has slated an Adult-Youth event June 26, starting at 10 a.m. Check-in is at 9:15 a.m.

The cost is $10 per bowler; it is a mixed game event, with one regular, one 3-6-9 and one 9-pin no-tap rounds scheduled.
