Raider fan in Pahrump decorates more than a man cave
The NFL preseason kicked off in Canton, Ohio last week and one resident of Pahrump is ready to go. His name is “Raider Rob.”
Rob certainly has set the bar on what it means to be a fan of the Oakland Raiders, soon to be the Las Vegas Raiders.
The house is simply known as the “Raider House” and is a single-wide modular home in Comstock Park that is painted with black trim and silver paint with a huge hand-painted Raiders logo in the middle of the front of the house.
Rob started decorating his house as soon as he moved in six months ago. Now that he has finished he is anxious to show it off.
“I saw your article on the Raiders when they announced they will be coming out to Las Vegas,” Rob said. “I saw the guy in front of a Raider banner and thought this guy has nothing on me. I have been a Raider fan since 1982.”
Rob’s house is decorated, and so is his Dodge. It’s silver and has a big Raider logo on the hood. The rock in the driveway is white and black surrounded by silver and black stones.
“It took me 15 boxes to move all my Raiders memorabilia into this house six months ago,” Rob said. “It then took me three weeks to paint the outside, two to three months to do the inside and one to two months to get the rocks and then paint them.”
Rob says his house in Comstock Park is widely known now.
“It’s just awesome, you did a great job man, love what you did to the house, go Raiders,” Paul Clark, a handyman driving by the house said.
“I get that all day long from people driving by,” Rob said. “My neighbor across the street is a Denver fan and he said it would look nice if the house wasn’t in Raider colors.”
“You should have seen the place before he moved in, six months ago,” Cheri Cogil, a friend and neighbor said. “It looks great now and he put a lot of work into it.”
Rob is an artistic person, which shows in his Raider art that he did himself. The logo on the front of the house looks like it was purchased but it was done by hand. He also does Raider helmets for fans to wear at games.
Once inside the Raider house, guests are hit by the sheer magnitude of Raider memorabilia on the wall. He has logos, hats, beanies and signed photographs of his favorite Raider players all adorning the walls. And it’s not just a man cave that is decorated, it’s the entire house.
His prized possession is a toy Chevy Silverado, a silver and black truck that is signed by Todd Christensen and Ben Davidson.
“I personally had Ben Davidson and Todd Christensen sign my truck and it probably is my favorite piece,” he said. “My favorite Raiders team is the one that won the Super Bowl in 1984. My favorite player is Bo Jackson.”
Rob said he has enough Raider clothing to wear a different outfit each day.
Well ladies, Rob said he is single, but if you want to date him you have to be a Raiders fan.
