Rosemary Clarke golfers finish strong in Vegas

Rosemary Clarke Middle School participated in the newly organized Southern Nevada Middle School League Championship in golf just before school let out last week.

Eighth grader Makalea Petrie and sixth graders John Taylor and Breanne Nygaard qualified for the event. The three golfers didn’t manage to place at the event but Coach Kevin Roberts said the team showed a lot of promise.

These golfers qualified for the championships on April 16 at Lake View Executive Golf Course, where over 80 golfers participated.

According to Roberts, the team finished the year strong. On May 7, Rosemary Clarke took first in a Lake Mead Christian Academy hosted three-school meet at Tuscany Golf Club in Henderson besting Lake Mead and St. Viator Catholic.

Taylor finished first and teammate Chase McDaniels took second with Tyler Floyd and Koby Lindberg performing well, Roberts said.

In the skills competition May 7 saw the players do well again: Faith Theoret longest drive; Nygaard closest to the pin and best putter; Rayder Maestas longest drive (boys); Floyd closest to the pin (boys); Cyle Havel best putter (boys).
