A tribute to Trojans top athletes

Pahrump Valley High School honored four senior students at their annual awards ceremony last Wednesday.

They awarded Nolan Toomer as the male athlete of the year and Lauren Koenig as the female athlete of the year.

Derek Moore was the male scholar-athlete of the year and Jamie Murphy was the female scholar-athlete of the year.

Toomer lettered three years in soccer, two years in basketball, two years in golf and one year in track. According to his mother, Susan Toomer, he is planning on attending Utah State University Eastern after serving a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Koenig lettered four years in softball and three years in volleyball. According to her father, Jeff Koenig, she will be attending the University of Nevada Las Vegas and will be studying to become a teacher.

Murphy lettered three years in soccer and two years in track. According to her father Ronnie Murphy, she will be attending Great Basin College while she studies math and science. She will be deciding whether to study geology, paleontology or archaeology.

Moore lettered four years in golf all four years and will probably be the school valedictorian. Moore will be attending the University of Nevada Reno to study chemistry.
