Trojans vs. Cheyenne

The Trojans go on the road to take on a power running Cheyenne team. The Desert Shields (3-2 overall, 2-1 Sunset League) are coming off a huge win against Sierra Vista (1-4, 1-2) , 50-6.

According to Trojans coach Adam Gent, Cheyenne will try to run against Pahrump too. Against Sierra Vista they had 362 yards rushing and just 75 yards passing.

"Cheyenne likes the power run game," Gent said. "They run a lot with either a three-back set or pulling guards with a fullback lead blocking. They haven't run any double wing in the film I've watched covering their last two games, but I've heard they run it sometimes so we'll be prepared."

The Trojans rushed for 482 yards in two games so they will counter with their own rushing game and they had 103-yards passing. Parker Hart led the team in receiving with 66 yards, followed by Devlin Dillon for 31 yards.

The Pahrump Valley Times player of the game was Aaron Fuentes for scoring two touchdowns, one on offense and one on defense. Hart, Milk and Jesse Dillon had the other TDs.

Gent believes this to be the toughest opponent to date and to win he knows his team will have to stop the run.

"Our boys are excited and know what they have to do to be successful," he said.

The Trojans are expecting a blitz from Cheyenne too.

"Defensively, they like to send five to six guys every time as a run blitz or pressuring the pass," Gent said. "We have to get the ball out quick and block well up front for us to have success running and passing. Cheyenne is a very good team, but all of our boys and coaches are excited at the opportunity. If we play like I know our boys can, it'll be a great game."

Quarterback TJ Milk had a lot of success going to the quick passing game when pressured by Clark. Look to him to get the ball to the running backs when pressured or he might just take off like he has done all year.
