Nathan Adelson Hospice’s largest fundraiser of the year in Pahrump returns to the Mountain Falls Grill Room in less than two weeks.
The annual Festival of Trees kicks off Friday, Dec. 2 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Manager Anne Patriche said the objective is simple, as employees from local businesses come together to decorate Christmas trees, wreaths and stockings, which are then auctioned off and the proceeds benefit Pahrump’s Nathan Adelson Hospice services in Pahrump and surrounding areas.
“We are now in our twelfth year and we approach individuals and businesses to see if they are interested in purchasing a tree, wreath or stocking,” she said. “All of the items are purchased by members of the community where they decorate the trees and wreaths or in the case of the stockings, they are stuffed.”
The gala evening will include dinner and cocktails, followed by the popular auction.
Patriche said she is amazed by the creativity of the decorations on the trees in previous events.
“It was amazing, and this year we will have five four-foot trees, and one six-foot tree,” she said. “We will also have 13 wreaths and about a dozen stockings. It’s amazing how creatively decorated the trees and wreaths are. This year, the Shadow Mountain Quilters were kind enough to donate a queen-sized handmade quilt for this event.”
Additionally, Patriche said the event has grown in size over the past few years.
“A lot of people have done this year after year for us, which is very generous,” she said. “Every year we also have new people and organizations coming on board. The ticket sales from the dinner and all of the proceeds from the auction, including raffle tickets, benefit the patients and families here in Pahrump as well as Amargosa Valley.”
Tickets to the event are $75 per person or $100 for a couple, which includes a dinner choice of prime rib or salmon dinner.
Tables can also be purchased for $500.
Last year’s event generated more than $11,000 for the hospice.
“We have had some businesses who have purchased up to 10 seats for a table,” Patriche said. “People can RSVP for the event and tickets can be purchased here in our office or they can send in the money and have the tickets waiting at the door for them. We are always grateful for any donations that we receive from the community.”
