Nevada Silver Tappers founder B.J. Hetrick-Irwin was adamant about one thing on Wednesday.
She wants her phone to ring non-stop prior to the Tappers’ annual Christmas benefit show coming up on Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Saddle West showroom.
Past Christmas benefit shows have raised funds for band equipment for Beatty High School, paying teachers’ out-of-pocket expenses and helping a family left homeless after a fire.
Funds were also raised for a three-year-old girl with cancer.
The event is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Silver Tappers.
The beneficiaries this year are Pahrump Senior Center’s Meals on Wheels program, No To Abuse and Nathan Adelson Hospice, with two performances, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
“This is our 25th year we are doing the benefit Christmas show, and it’s going to be different this year, with lot of surprises coming in,” Hetrick-Irwin said. “I can’t believe it’s been 25 years. I try to make it unique every year and the opening number is going to be so different. We’re looking forward to it because it’s very unique.”
The Saddle West has played host to the Christmas show for all of the 25 years.
Hetrick-Irwin said the group will present a check to officials with the Pahrump veterans’ food pantry during next Saturday’s benefit show.
Proceeds came from last Sunday’s USO Auxiliary show.
Tickets for the performances may be purchased at the chamber of commerce office, Sunflower Fashions or from any of the Nevada Silver Tappers.
Hetrick-Irwin noted that she would not mind a few calls on her personal phone.
“If they want to call me for tickets they can reach me at (775) 727-7011,” she said. “I want my phone to be ringing off the hook until showtime.”
