University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is helping producers of Cottage Foods understand the legislation passed during the recent session, which allows home farmers to sell what they grow or make.
Nevada Risk Management will offer “Cottage Foods and Farm to Fork: Education on the New Legislation” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the UNCE Clark County offices, 8050 Paradise Road, Room A, in Las Vegas.
The role of USDA’s Risk Management is to help producers manage their business risks through effective, market-based solutions and strengthen the economic stability of agricultural producers.
The workshop will focus on the new laws for both agricultural producers and home growers with opportunities to supplement their income.
Topics are understanding the new regulations, meeting labeling requirement and maximize marketing and advice and ideas from leaders in the field.
Leaders will cover fees, what information is required on labeling, signage for direct marketing and how it should be worded and how to conduct a farm to fork event.
The cost is $20 per farm and will admit two people. The price also includes lunch.
