Death Valley National Park will host a fundraiser at the end of the month set to benefit a badly damaged area of the popular tourist destination.
Metabolic Studio IOU Radio will be performing Death Valley Scotty at the Furnace Creek Visitor Center at the park on Jan. 30 at 6 p.m.
All are welcome to view and listen to the sights and sounds of the radio drama written in 1931 and originally airing in 1955 as part of the Death Valley Days series.
The show revolves around Death Valley Scotty, a prospector, performer, raconteur, con man, husband and father, among other titles. In 1885 Scotty met Albert Johnson, an easterner who was recovering from a nearly-fatal accident and Scotty helped him to recover, cementing a secretive, life-long partnership which included the construction of Scotty’s Castle.
Scotty quickly became one of the West’s most well-known legends whose feats appeared in news outlets across the country.
Metabolic Studio IOU Theatre is a group of performers from the Owens Valley of California.They are taking their show on the road to support efforts to repair damage to Scotty’s Castle caused by flash flooding in October.
