The National Park Service will commemorate Veterans Day, Nov. 9-11, by waiving entrance fees to Death Valley National Park. Now that the weather has cooled down, you can enjoy being outdoors again in most areas of the park.
Only entrance fees will be waived. Camping fees and expanded amenity fees, such as Scotty’s Castle tour tickets, will still apply. Check the park’s website, www.nps.gov/deva, for the latest information on road closures.
Furnace Creek Resort has added 26 full-hookup RV sites and created the new 35-site Fiddlers’ Campground adjacent to its golf course. Both family-friendly facilities are within easy reach of ranch amenities, which are available to guests staying in the sites, including the spring-fed swimming pool, shower facility, coin operated laundry, wireless internet, tennis, shuffleboard, volleyball, Bocci Ball and basketball court.
There are three sizes of sites that will accommodate rigs up to 35 feet long, 45 feet long and 50 feet long. The rate for a site is $37 per night and includes Wi-Fi access.
The new Fiddlers’ Campground is located just steps from the pro shop of the golf course and features 35 new campsites that can accommodate 40- and 50-foot rigs.
What was once a temporary campground that was created for one of the resort’s annual golf tournaments is now a very spacious campground with community barbecue pits and picnic tables.
Rates at Fiddlers’ Campground are $25 per night and include resort amenities and Wi-fi access. Fiddlers’ Campground sites do not have utility hook-ups.
The Ranch is open year-round and features a wide range of activities, restaurants and retail operations. Reservations for campsites may be made by calling 800-236-7916 or 303-297-2757.
