A valley medical marijuana cultivation facility wants to leave a positive impact on the valley despite being part of what some might deem a negative industry.
Green Life Productions LLC is a cultivation center in Pahrump, who supplies The Grove dispensary in town, as well as 13 dispensaries in Las Vegas with medicinal weed.
The company is composed of five local owners, Mike Floyd, Brian Floyd, Steve Cantwell, Gloria Boucher, Mike Conley, and they teamed up with Precision Concrete to give the VFW facility some needed upgrades to their site.
The pair of businesses joined forces and added some much-needed handicapped parking spaces and sidewalks around the VFW building.
“We partnered up with Precision Concrete and they donated all the materials for the project and we paid for the labor,” Cantwell said. “It was cool to be able to work on a local project like that with local businesses.”
Cantwell hasn’t gotten the finalized amount of the project yet, but he estimates with the cost of materials and labor, the figure is between $7,000 and $8,000.
One of Green Life Productions’ owners is a contractor in town and he heard that the VFW needed the additions to their lot and the company jumped on board with the project.
“We thought it would be a great idea to partner with a local business and help the local VFW get that up and going,” Cantwell said.
With Green Life Productions being fairly new to the valley, Cantwell says that this type of community involvement project is something that they are passionate about and plan to continue to do.
“It something that we’re really excited about, but we definitely plan on reaching out as much as possible and helping the community,” he said. “We have a lot of community pride. All of our investors grew up in Pahrump and the majority of us still live here in Pahrump, we have strong community pride so we plan on continuing to help and to give a better light to the industry that we’re now a part of.”
With the medical marijuana business, there is still some opposition to having it in town, but Cantwell is determined to show that they are proud of Pahrump and want nothing but the best for the town as much as anyone one else who lives here does.
“As a beneficial business to the community, we don’t want them to think that we’re bringing in a negative crowd or any negative activities to the community,” he said. “We want to show that we’re here to participate in community events and to help the community whenever it’s needed however we can.
“We’re here for the long haul and this our town and we’re happy to be doing business here.”
