Local church, medical facility to hold Veterans Day observances

Truth in Life Ministries Pastor Tom Gilbert is inviting local veterans and supporters to a special Veterans Day observance at his 41 N. Highway 160 location beginning at 9 a.m.

The church has observed the national holiday with other houses of worship in the community. Today’s ceremony is his own gift to local veterans.

“We will be flying all five military flags today at our brand new chapel on the corner of Basin and 160,” he said. “It won’t be in the chapel, but we are going to congregate right next door in the coffee ministry.”

Gilbert is offering free coffee, doughnuts and refreshments to any veteran who attends.

He noted everyone in attendance can enter a raffle.

“We got blessed with a whole bunch of stuff donated to us and U-turn for Christ Ministries,” he said. “We have been at this new location for about four months and we really enjoy it here. At our previous ministry, we were there for about 12 years. I love the new location and we have been very busy remodeling it. We are located at the heaviest traveled intersection in the entire town of Pahrump.”

Officials at Affiliated Chiropractic too, are holding their Veterans Day Open House from 1 to 6 p.m. at their 2201 East Postal Road location.

The facility is offering free hot dogs, chips and drinks for all attendees.

Raffles and drawings include a chance to win a $100 gift card, free 50-minute massage and a frozen turkey for the holidays.

The facility is also offering free adjustments for veterans or $20 adjustments for cash patients.

Nye County schools and government offices will be closed today in observance of the day.
