The Pahrump Valley Museum and Historical Society will hold the next presentation in the Lecture Series at 1 p.m., March 8 at the facility, 401 E. Basin Ave.
The presentation this month will feature Kevin Fitzgerald with the Cold War Patriots Remembrance Quilt and John Campbell, a test site worker for 27 years.
The Remembrance Quilt will be on display at the museum through March 25.
The quilt measures 11’ tall by 17’ wide and is to honor nuclear and uranium workers and their contribution to America’s safety. This one-of-a-kind Remembrance Quilt made of hand-written quilt squares in the form of an American Flag is traveling the country and will only be in Pahrump through March. The presentation will honor the sacrifices many women and men made to help build the nation’s nuclear defense.
Fitzgerald will speak on the legacy of the former Nevada Test Site and the traveling Remembrance Quilt. The facility is now the Nevada National Security Site.
Also speaking will be Campbell, who held the positions of Tunnel Superintendent, Tunnel Walker, Shifter, and Shaft Miner during his time at the Test Site.
Admission is free. For more information, contact the museum at 775-751-1970, Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
