A great number of options for entertainment are happening this weekend, such as added music, a lecture, an artist’s reception and a Latin Nights event, and that’s just for starters.
The Pahrump Valley Museum and Historical Society, 401 E. Basin Ave., will have Andy Martello, author of The King of Casinos, at the lecture set for 1 p.m., Oct. 11.
Andy Martello is a professional comedian, variety performer, and freelance writer from Las Vegas, where he appears as the announcer for The Price is Right LIVE, Fremantle Media’s nationally touring version of the world’s most popular TV game show.
Martello will be speaking about “The King of Casinos: Willie Martello and the El Rey Club” and his culmination of eight years worth of research and interviews detailing the history of this little-known, but very influential Searchlight, Nevada casino.
An artist’s reception is planned for exhibitor Marti Zeigler from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the Pahrump Art Gallery next to the library. Zeigler has paintings and jewelry on display.
Refreshments will be served.
Tom Saitta and Tommy Deering have changed the performance of the Great American Songbook from Tuesday evenings to Friday evenings.
Saitta and Deering are often joined by other local performers and a few from other places, who often add vocals or other instruments. The show will be from 6:30 p..m. to 9:30 p.m. at Draft Picks on Highway 160.
The Coyote’s Den, 3971 Kellogg Road, is hosting a Hot Latin Nights event starting at 7 p.m. Oct. 10. The music will be provided by Cumbia Salsa Regaeton Band.
Mexican food will be featured and a DJ will keep the beat pumping. There is no cover charge.
The VFW will host a fundraiser to benefit VOD, Patriots Pen and teacher programs. An $8 donation will buy attendees a pork roast dinner with all the trimmings. The event will be at 3 p.m. Oct. 11.
The kids are getting into the act with an Evening of Improv. Pahrump Valley High School’s Paul DiLella organized the Halloween-themed event that “leaves you howling for more.”
The show will be at 7 p.m., Oct. 11 in the PVHS gymnasium. Tickets are $4 and concessions will be available.
A donation car wash is planned from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of Draft Picks. The event is presented by the PVHS Key Club and will raise funds for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life team.
The Rotary Cash Extravaganza is set for 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Oct. 12 at Mountain Falls Grill Room. There’s a $10,000 reward for the lucky ticket holder.
Event tickets are $75 for two people and one drawing ticket. A prime rib buffet will cost an extra $20 per person. Call 727-5222 or 751-8228 for tickets and more information.
Each year, the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the VFW puts on a fundraiser show to benefit the organization’s programs. There is a call for auditions to strut your stuff from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Oct. 14 at Saddle West. Bring any music you need with you to the audition.
