The Pahrump Art Gallery has installed a new exhibit of local artists with featured artist Princy Simonsen. She has lived in Pahrump for eight years and has been exhibiting paintings for about five years and part of those are permanent displays as wall murals at the museum, the library, and the art gallery entrance. There are seven artists exhibiting in this show.
Amateur photographers wishing to learn more about nature photography have an opportunity to participate in the “Nature through the Lens” program. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Nevada Department of Wildlife are joining forces to offer a workshop on nature photography at the Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge.
The free workshop is set for Saturday, March 29, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at the Point of Rocks boardwalk on the refuge. Participants will learn about photography basics and types of nature photography. Time will be allotted for attendees to practice what they have learned.
Those wanting to participate should bring a personal camera such as a phone, point-and-shoot or DSLR. It’s going to be warm and you’ll need to bring water and wear shoes suitable for walking and/or hiking. Registration ahead of time is necessary. Ash Meadows NWR is located approximately 30 miles northwest of Pahrump off of Bell Vista Road.
The Pahrump Arts Council is sponsoring a free concert March 28 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Performing will be the U.S. Air Force Wild West Winds Clarinet Quartet. The doors open at 6 p.m. and even though the concert is free, tickets are required. They may be picked up at the library.
It’s time for the Pahrump Guns and Hoses blood drive sponsored by the Nye County Sheriff’s Office and Pahrump Valley Firefighters.
The hours are from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 28 and from 8 a.m. to noon, March 29 at the Pahrump Valley Fire Department, 300 N. Highway 160 on the south side of the building.

The Shoshone Museum will host a book signing at 6 p.m. March 28 for “Fire and Forge,” the story of Harry Rosenberg.
Another booksigning and other activities will also be on Wednesday, April 2 at the Tonopah &Tidewater Museum grand opening, beginning at 1 p.m. The museum is located at Death Valley Junction.
