Although a lot of entertainment is on the calendar for this weekend, the one that is not would be live music at the Pahrump Nugget Stagebar Lounge.
Usually the PVT receives a list of bands and dates from the Golden Casino Group. A call was made and sources say the issue will be a topic of discussion set for tomorrow.
The annual Grape Stomp will be the highlight of events in town, with gates opening at 11 a.m., both Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 4 and 5. General admission is $5.
Added to the stomping will be live music from “Headz or Tailz” out of Las Vegas, vendors, food and the annual wine sale, which is also a main attractions as prices are cut drastically.
The “Students of Lloyd Martin” exhibit at the library is open and the artists’ reception is from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. today, Oct. 3. Refreshments will be served.
Friends of Nathan Adelson Hospice will be raising money for its building fund from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Oct. 4 at the Maverick, 340 E. Mesquite Ave.
The “Stairway to Heaven Dance Competition” will feature locals already known for their dancing abilities with others who may or may not prove to be light on their feet. The PVT’s own Mark Waite will dance with Linda Byrd.
Tickets are $20 per person and the price includes pizza, salad and a beverage.
The organization operates under the auspices of Nathan Adelson Hospice and is trying to raise matching funds to qualify for a grant. This is the third annual event.
A fundraiser for Debbie Ladd, wife of well-known Terrible’s Casinos Manager Bill Ladd, will take place Oct. 4 as well.
Ladd was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and the event will help with expenses.
The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. at Lakeside Casino &RV and will feature a silent auction and raffles.
A special memorial and commitment of ashes will take place at 12:20 p.m., Oct. 4 at G.G. Sweet Veterans Memorial Park.
Ashes of 1st Lt. Walter Brannigan, USMC and ARM2C Douglas Cassidy, USN will be interred.
There will be a posting of the colors, the National Anthem, prayers and Pledge of Allegiance, music and a eulogy from the Cassidy family.
Oct. 11, the Pahrump Valley Museum will present its monthly lecture at 1 p.m. The guest speaker will be Andy Artello, an author and comedian.
A “Pahrump Community Yard Sale” is planned for Oct. 24 and 25 to benefit the Senior Center Meals on Wheels Program.
Residents may register to participate and get the rules at www.mypahrump.com. Frazier Furniture is accepting donations for the physical yard sale scheduled for the former Skate Zone on Calvada Boulevard. The Senior Center is holding a pancake breakfast Oct. 25.
