NyE Coalition to hold Haunted Acres this week

The NyE Communities Coalition will be holding their 2nd annual Haunted Acres Halloween event Oct. 22-24.

The event is being held at the coalition campus, located at 1020 E. Wilson Road, and is appropriate for ages 10 and older. Doors open at 5 p.m. for trick or treating until 7 p.m. and from then until 11 p.m., it is the Haunted Acres “Prepare to Scream”.

Tickets are $7 per person.

Many local companies will be donating supplies for the event. Such companies are Valley Electric Association donating water, Shadow Mountain Feed supplying hay stacks, and Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue is setting up an educational crime scene and providing first aid during the event.

Kaylee Harker, youth workforce case manager at the NyE Communities Coalition, said “Every year we change up the plot and decorations for each of the scenes, everything is different from last year.” Harker also said, “I cannot give out much information because I do not want to give away the surprises, but expect zombies.”

“The event scenes and plot are all based upon prevention messaging,” Family Planning Project Manager and SS/HS Youth Advisor Sierra McKillips said.

The proceeds from this event go to NyE Communities Coalition youth groups. The money helps the youth groups go on trips and helps fund the programs.

If anybody would like to donate candy or funds to the event you can drop them off at the front office of the NyE Communities Coalition.

Youth group programs from the NyE Communities Coalition will be helping put on the event as well as Pahrump Valley High School clubs and groups.

“Our goal is not just to provide a scary place but a safe, educational, drug-free environment,” Harker and McKillips said.

If you have any questions about donations or anything else concerning the Haunted Acres, please feel free to contact the NyE Communities Coalition at 775-537-2323.
