Powwow at Petrack Park, blues at the HUBB

The big ticket item for this weekend is the annual Social Powwow at Petrack Park which begins Friday afternoon. The grand entrance will be at 10 a.m. Saturday.

This is a chance to get some unique gifts from the vendors and learn something about Native American culture. If you find a piece of a dancer’s costume on the ground, be respectful. Leave it where you find it and get an elder from the drum circle to retrieve it.

The All-Star Blues band, consisting of Mike Hickey on guitar and vocals, Greg Smith on guitar and vocals, Bob White on bass and vocals and Wild Bill on drums, will be playing at 7 p.m., Nov. 21 at the HUBB, 3720 W. Bell Vista Road.

A fundraiser for Ruthie Edwards, co-owner of the Bounty Hunter will take the form of a pajama party. Wear your best jammies to the party, which begins at 7 p.m. Karaoke, food, raffle and an auction will be part of the festivities.

The bar is located at the corner of East and Second streets.

The Maverick is playing for the younger set with four bands beginning at 7 p.m. Music will be provided by the Wretched Soul Kids, Sine Wave, Strange Mistress, Lawn Mower Death Rider and the Bounty Hunter Brothers.

On Thanksgiving, the Maverick will hold a potluck Thanksgiving meal from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. for their customers and those who would enjoy a meal with others. Bring a side dish to share.

KNYE Radio will hold a food drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 22 at Smith’s Food &Drug. The donations can be monetary, perishable or non-perishable and will help the VFW food bank and other local food banks for Thanksgiving.
