The Pahrump Valley Museum and Historical Society will host its next lecture in the series at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12 at the museum, 410 E. Basin Ave. The guest speaker will be Don McDermott.
McDermott hailed from Canton, Ohio before making Pahrump his home. He is the editorial manager for the Pahrump Mirror newspaper since July, 2012 and was previously the sports editor of the Pahrump Valley Times from June, 2001 to April, 2012.
McDermott was inducted into the Pahrump Valley High School Athletics Hall of Fame as a community contributor on Oct. 11.
As a professional newspaper writer, he has covered almost every major league sport in over 50 years in the business and thousands of high school, college and professional games.
