Shadow Mountain seeking two actors for upcoming production

The Shadow Mountain Community Players are looking for two actors to complete casting on the troupe’s latest upcoming production of Agatha Christie’s “Appointment with Death.”

Actor Carlton McCaslin said the players are looking for someone between the ages of 30 and 50.

“Basically, they are two characters and one of them is kind of a young man,” McCaslin said. “With the other role, there’s really no age requirement. The actors don’t have to have experience in acting because the roles are fairly uncomplicated.”

McCaslin noted that the roles are more fun than scary or shocking.

“They’re more like an Agatha Christie murder mystery,” he said. “This is one of the plays in which she took the character, Hercule Poirot, out. She was so mad at him that she took him out. He is the Belgian detective. The version that was done on Masterpiece Theater is completely different from our play.”

McCaslin also said the company has already started with the auditions, thus emphasizing the importance of acquiring additional actors.

“We are doing rehearsals at 7 p.m., every Tuesday and Wednesday at the Pahrump Senior Center at 1370 W. Basin Ave.,” he said. “The characters are not so complicated where they can’t get caught up. They will do fine. The overall production will be done during three weekends in February because we found that murder and Valentine’s Day just kind of go together.”

McCaslin also mentioned an event happening tonight at 7 p.m.

“Beth Bromley, who was one of our actors at one time, is previewing a movie that she did called ‘Defamed’ at the New Hope Church this evening,” he said.

“We will be there and we encourage others to come and check it out as well. We’re looking forward to a great evening.”
