The annual Town Clean-up is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21 in what Nuclear Waste & Environmental Advisory Board Chairman John Pawlak calls “an old-fashioned house cleaning.”
He said the event will “freshen up the town prior to the annual Fall Festival.”
The times for collecting will be from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. or noon.
Pahrump Valley Disposal will be putting out dumpsters at five locations for large items. Those receptacles will be at Thousandaire Boulevard and Homestead Road; Gamebird and Homestead roads; Blagg and Simkins roads and the parking lot in front of the Bob Ruud Community Center. Another dumpster will be located behind Albertson’s and it is assumed it will be filled with the debris collected by the volunteers picking up trash in that area.
Anyone is welcome to stop by and help with staging the event on Saturday morning. The group will meet prior to the clean-up between the Nye County School District offices on West Street and the entrance to the NyE Communities Coalition Campus.
Donations of water will be gladly accepted and participants should bring gloves as well.
Pawlak said, “We welcome all who are civic-minded and care to take a couple of hours to make our town look a little bit more presentable for our big shindig next weekend.
“We will also have a round- up of all stray shopping carts that mysteriously leave on their own from the Albertson’s and Walmart parking lot areas.”
