This weekend’s calendar is full with offerings such as a music performance at Sanders Winery, a movie on the inflatable screen in the park, an arts and crafts show at the Nugget and more.
Jack Sanders said he received a number of calls from those under the impression his Summer Concert Series was over. The PVT was under the impression it was, and apologizes for any misunderstandings.
The series will continue with a return performance by the 50s and 60s dance band Deja Vu which is set for 7:30 p.m., July 13 in the winery courtyard.
As always, attendees are welcome to pack a picnic and bring snacks. Drinks and wine will be available. The cost is $15 per person and the doors open at 6 p.m.
• Movies in the Park continues Saturday at dusk. This time, and for all future showings, the movie will be in Ian Deutch Memorial Park.
This week will be “Spiderman.”
Since concessions are available to benefit PVHS sports, attendees are asked to leave the coolers and picnic baskets at home.
The events are always tobacco, drug and alcohol free. Bring chairs or blankets.
• “Christmas in July” is an annual event of arts and crafts on display and for sale. It started today and will run through Sunday in the Pahrump Nugget Events Center. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and tomorrow, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
• The monthly gathering of local musicians and poets from 10 a.m. to noon, at Off 160 Coffee House, will be a special event on July 13 when award-winning poet David Messineo will be the guest speaker.
Messineo, editor, publisher and historian will bring his 50-state cross-country informal tour for his book “Formal” to Nevada for the first time.
David Messineo is one of the longest serving poetry editors and independent literary magazine publishers in America and a three-time winner in the American Literary Magazine Awards.
As usual it will be hosted by John Salacan and Aysa Ivanova and includes the regular open mike.

• Sunday, July 14, the public can take a dip in the local pool free of charge, thanks to St. Martin’s in the Desert Episcopal Church and NyE Communities Coalition.
The free swim will be from noon to 7 p.m.
• The Pahrump Valley Museum will host the seventh lecture in its series at 1 p.m., Saturday at the museum, 401 E. Basin Ave.
Laraine Russo Harper is the guest speaker.
Harper will be speaking on the legal prostitution industry and conducting a book signing for “Legal Tender: True Tales of a Brothel Madam.”
Harper was born in New Jersey and grew up on the Jersey Shore. In 1976, she moved to Las Vegas and lived there for 30 years.
During the latter years of her Las Vegas residency, Harper became a commuter to Pahrump as she accepted a position as the madam of a legal brothel here.
In 2006, she moved to Pahrump. Harper is the founder of Symphony Animal Foundation. All of the proceeds from her book are donated to SAF.
• The next University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Master Gardener’s class will tackle “Composting in Small Spaces” from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., July 15. The cost of the class is $10. Call 727-5532 for more information.
