1. With the big grand opening date out of the way and the madness settling some, head on out to Vince Neil’s Tatuado Wild Side Tavern tonight to catch DJ Chase Brown as he spins the hits. The latest bar to open in the valley, Wild Side Tavern, is filled with Motley Crue memorabilia to give patrons a trip down memory lane, even if they have a hard time remembering the 80s and the hair metal mania themselves. To get you primed for the music, get there early and take advantage of happy hour from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., which includes $2.50 draft beers and $3.50 craft beers. So take a walk on the wild side at 2101 E. Gamebird Road and see what all the hype is about yourself.
2. With Christmas Day around the corner, get those holiday juices pumping by checking out Nevada Outreach Training Organization’s Victorian Christmas. Held at the Bob Ruud Community Center, located at 400 N. Highway 160, on Saturday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., the family-friendly event features children’s activities, hot chocolate, arts & crafts, face painting, photos with Santa and more. Volunteers will be dressed in Victorian-era costumes to give the evening an authentic feel, and if you want to fit the part, you can come dressed in full garb too. “It’s basically a Christmas carnival,” said Nevada Outreach Executive Director Salli Kerr. “There’s face painting, cookies, decorations, story time, there’s pictures with Santa, there’s an emporium where they can buy gifts.” The event is free to the public, but a donation of one non-perishable canned food item is recommended to help area families who might go hungry during the holidays and beyond.
3. Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, located at 781 Gamebird Road, is hosting their annual Our Lady of Guadalupe Festival today through Sunday. The event celebrates a traditional feast in honor of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the patron saint of Mexico. All three days will be filled with traditional Mexican fare, dancing and music. There are activities all 3 days, starting at 5 p.m. Friday evening, with music and dancing. Saturday morning after mass, breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. and a variety of food will be available from 1 p.m. through 8 p.m., in addition to more music and dancing to burn all those calories off. Sunday morning breakfast will be served at 10 a.m. and then traditional Mexican food served will start at 12:30 p.m. and continue all afternoon.
