Fall Festival offers an array of entertainment options

The Fall Festival taking place at Petrack Park is in its second of four days today and the entertainment portion of the event heats up over the weekend.

The three busiest days of Fall Festival, Friday, Saturday and Sunday include 31 events, ranging ing from live bands, to tap dancing, to a children’s and adults’ talent show.

Of the live acts, there are bands of all ages that hail from Pahrump and outside of town as well.

Local group Tower of Cards, who plays Saturday night at 9 p.m., are made up of five Pahrump Valley High School students ranging from ages 14 and 15 years old.

Adrian Grimaud, vocalist for Tower of Cards, explained the band is returning to the festival after playing the event last year and hopes to use that experience to their advantage.

“I feel like we are going to have so much more energy this year,” he said. “Because last year we weren’t very experienced with on-stage stuff, because we were like sticks up there. So we’re really experienced now after playing the House of Blues and getting familiar with all the technical stuff.

“We learned to move around, have a good time and look like we’re enjoying ourselves, which we are, so we’re going to hype up the crowd a lot more.”

The group combined their favorite music, including rock, pop and girl bands to form their own unique sound.

The lure of playing one of the biggest events of the year for Pahrump after dark has the group excited to get out there and strut their stuff.

“It’s really exciting to be playing at 9 o’clock at night when the lights are on us and everything, with everybody crowded around us,” he said. “We’re just so hyped to be a part of the festival.”

Three Blind Mice, a classic rock cover band out of Las Vegas who play Saturday at 5 p.m., is not a stranger to town, as they played here multiple times this year.

After drummer and vocalist Johnny Lust initially tried to be part of the event after speaking with the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce CEO back and forth over social media only to find that all the spots had already been filled, a last-minute change allowed the band to join the 2015 lineup.

“They contacted me back and said they had an opening, that one of the acts had pulled out and asked if we wanted in and we said absolutely, we’ll be there,” Lust said.

The trio is looking forward to jamming out on the stage at the festival and expect the atmosphere to be something like of one of their regular gigs but on a slightly larger scale.

“I guess it’s pretty much kind of the same thing really, on a weird kind of level,” Lust said. “The only reason I say that is because everybody is enjoying the music, having a good time. Although the festival has the rides and the animals and that type of stuff and you probably won’t get churros or cotton candy at most bars.”

Lust has played the Fall Festival before several years ago and remembers it being an enjoyable experience.

“Yeah, I have before but it was under a different band name called Playground … and I am totally looking forward to playing it again, it’s going to be a lot of fun,” Lust said. “The last time I played there it was great. Everybody was into it, having a blast and having a lot of fun, which in turn made us have a lot of fun too.”
