After record-breaking heat in town in the month of June, temperatures will remain at or just below normal for the coming days.
The National Weather Service said that high temperatures will range from about 96 degrees and 102 degrees, which will be right around the average high temperature for this time of year of 101 degrees.
Its going to be warm and dry, said Caleb Steele, National Weather Service meteorologist. Temps will be right around normal.
The near-average temperatures should be a welcome sigh of relief for area residents, as the month of June was the hottest on record.
The average temperature was 83.1 degrees, which does rank as the warmest on record, and it looks like those go back to 1914, Steele said.
The average high during that time span was 95.5 degrees, with the hottest days of the month coming on June 21 and June 28 where the temperatures topped out at 110 degrees.
Temperatures over the next seven days will top out at 102 on Wednesday and will see the lowest high temperatures on Sunday and Monday, where the mercury will reach 96 degrees.
Las Vegas and Death Valley also saw their hottest Junes on record, as Vegas saw an average temperature of 91.9 degrees, while Death Valley lived up to their reputation of being the hottest place on Earth and had an average temperature of 101.9 degrees.
