Annual Car and Truck Show returns to Horizon Market

The Tumbleweed Tavern and Horizon Market’s Car and Truck Show kicks off this Saturday at the corner of Highway 160 and Mesquite from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The 14th annual event is an opportunity for area car enthusiasts to show off their respective classic rides.

Organizer Priscilla Gonzales said the event is a fundraiser for the local Children in Transition program.

“In general, it’s a car and truck show and we’re raising funds for children in transition that want to attend college or other types of higher education,” she said. “It’s for children that are almost homeless and have low incomes.”

She also said the funds will be used for field trips and visits to area colleges where students can get a hands-on feel of campus life.

The registration fee for the show is $25.

Events will include entertainment with a live DJ playing the oldies and raffles throughout the morning.

Vehicle judging gets underway at noon, followed by an awards presentation.

Any type of car or truck is welcome at the show.

Gonzales said anyone interested in pre-registering, should call (775) 727-4100 or owners can register the day of the event.
