Barnett named president of Utilities Inc.

Utilities, Inc. has announced an important restructuring that will provide greater authority and accountability to their local operating companies and aligns the newly created business units with the regulatory agencies that oversee their operations in each state.

As a result, Wendy Barnett, formerly regional director, has been named president of the Nevada and Arizona business units and will assume full responsibility for all aspects of the operations of the companies in those states.

“The water business is local in nature and we felt strongly that decentralizing the planning, operations and decision-making will greatly benefit the communities we serve. As regional director, Wendy has been a part of the local community for a number of years and we are confident she understands both the customer needs and the necessary solutions in order to be an outstanding president,” said Lisa Sparrow, CEO of Utilities, Inc. and chairperson of the Nevada and Arizona Management Committee.

As part of the reorganization, Rebecca Oscarson, formerly key accounts representative for Valley Electric Association, has been appointed vice president of operations for the Nevada business unit reporting directly to Barnett.

“Rebecca brings to us a strong utility operations background coupled with deep knowledge of the needs of the local community which adds to our already focused emphasis on serving Pahrump residents in the way they deserve.” Barnett said.

Commenting on her own role, Barnett stated that “I am looking forward to the opportunity to strengthen this company’s role as an integral part of the Pahrump community through local management of all elements of the business from financial resource planning to field operations. This is a team of people whose primary focus will be on serving the community and we now are aligned with all the necessary resources to accomplish that under one roof.”
