This year’s Beatty Days was one of the best ever, according to Beatty Chamber of Commerce President Ann Marchand.
“It was a great event,” Marchand said. “We had the most chili cooks we’ve ever had. It was regional, so they go on to the world competition, where they could win $25,000.”
She also said the classic and antique car show was amazing. “We were full. We were also full up with vendors this year.”
The model train show grew to fill a second room in the Beatty Community Center this year, with the Las Vegas Garden Railroad Society in one room and the Pahrump Model Railroad Club in the other.
A new addition this year was the Aaron Huisman Desert Art Contest, which showcased a variety of artwork inspired by the rural Nevada landscape.
David Spicer and Brad Hunt were grand marshals in the parade in recognition of all the work they have done to provide habitat for the Amargosa toad, while also developing and promoting special events that have brought many visitors to Beatty.
Marty and Joanne Campbell were Senior King and Queen, in honor of all the work they have done to help keep the Beatty Senior Center open.
This year’s Miss Beatty Days was Angelina Altman, and Dusay Fields was named Junior Miss Beatty Days.
