Memorial Day weekend is shaping up to be a mild and comfortable one, perfect to enjoy the extra day off most will enjoy on Monday.
Temperatures will remain below normal for this time of year through Sunday, with Monday’s high temperature reaching the average high of 91 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Along with the pleasant temperatures, calm, mostly sunny conditions are expected for much of the next week, with slight chances for a few gusts of wind, if storms develop on surrounding mountains.
“Over the next couple of days there is a chance (of rain) mainly over the mountains,” said Caleb Steele, National Weather Service meteorologist.
Although rain is possible on the nearby mountainous areas, there is no real chance of precipitation in town, Steele explained.
“If the storms come off the mountains they are probably going to fall apart pretty quickly,” he said.
Valley residents should enjoy the cooler than normal weather, as the area’s first 100-degree day could come next weekend. High temperatures are forecast at 99 degrees for next Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with the possibility of any one of those days surpassing the 100-degree mark.
Highs for the next week will range from 89 degrees today, up to 98 degrees Wednesday. Lows will vary from 55 degrees tonight to 70 degrees Wednesday night.
