Representatives for U.S. Rep. Cresent Hardy were in town this week to open a satellite office for the 4th Congressional District freshman lawmaker.
The new office is at 1321 S. Highway 160, which also houses the local offices of fellow Republicans state Assemblyman James Oscarson and state Sen. Pete Goicoechea.
Hardy’s Communication Director Scott Knuteson said the congressman is looking forward to addressing concerns from constituents living in rural communities throughout the fourth district.
“The focus here of course is that we want to make sure that the congressman’s constituents are taken care of no matter where they live and that includes especially our rural communities,” he said. “Residents can expect to see our team out and about quite frequently all across the fourth district and we are working on establishing the regular hours of the congressman’s office,” he said.
Monica Phillips, who serves as Hardy’s outreach representative and caseworker, said they are hoping to nail down a workable schedule for office hours each month.
“We are trying to stick with the third Wednesday of each month depending upon how the schedule looks for the community,” she said. “I will be in touch with the senior center today to see if it is convenient for them that way we can commit to something monthly.”
Knuteson also noted that once the office is up and running, local residents may stop by the office and voice their concerns on virtually any range of issues.
“We are just absolutely happy to have the opportunity to work with the community to make sure constituents have their needs taken care of and that runs the whole gamut everything from veterans affairs, social security issues and Medicare and Medicaid,” he said. “We want to help in any way if a constituent might find themselves trying to navigate their interaction with a federal agency. We are there to assist in getting them through the red tape and getting them served in the way that they need, and in a prompt manner.”
Additionally, Knuteson said the congressman is looking forward to returning to Pahrump to personally hear from constituents in the not-too-distant future, while noting that no visits have been scheduled as of yet.
“I would have to talk with the scheduler to see what is coming up,” he said. “I know that he really wants to be out in the district and out in the community as much as possible. His goal is to be out in the community as much as possible and that includes a community like Pahrump. People who can’t make it to the office can go to hardy.house.gov.”
Knuteson said residents can also call the office to speak to Hardy representatives and caseworkers at 702 912-1634.
“We will link them up with the staff person who is best suited to address their needs,” he said. “What’s important to the congressman is making sure that we take care of constituents across the fourth district no matter what their needs are.”
Hardy defeated Freshman Congressman Steven Horsford in November’s general election by a margin of 48.53 percent to Horsford’s 45.76 percent of the vote.
