TONOPAH — Nye County commissioners will consider a memorandum of understanding with the Federal Aviation Administration for the Pahrump Airport project when they meet at 10 a.m. here Tuesday.
The meeting can be watched via video conference from the commissioners’ chambers at 2100 Walt Williams Dr.
Commissioners already agreed to be a co-sponsor for the airport project.
In other business, commissioners will vote on ratifying emergency action to provide a $250,000 loan as part of a proposed $2 million in revolving financial support for Prime Care Nevada Inc. for operations at Nye Regional Medical Center.
County commissioners will decide whether to participate in a proceeding before the Nevada Public Utility Commission by Utilities Inc. of Central Nevada, which is seeking a permit to construct and rehabilitate sewer facilities at Willow Creek Golf Course. UICN applied for a permit to rehabilitate and enlarge an existing receiving pond, add a second overflow pond, rehabilitate two pump houses, install two rapid infiltration basins and replace piping.
A bill imposing a 25-cent, per month surcharge on telephones to pay for a 911 emergency system is on the agenda. The recommendation is part of a five-year 911 master plan. Commissioners will also vote on an agreement for a Next Generation 911 system to replace a system that will be obsolete after October.
Commissioners will vote on a zero based budgeting concept for the Nye County Sheriff’s Office, which was approved as part of the budget May 19.
The board will consider filling a number of vacant positions, including a deputy treasurer, dispatcher, deputy recorder, budget/fiscal analyst and deputy sheriff. The county manager’s selection of comptroller will be up for approval, former county commissioner and assistant county manager Joni Eastley has been serving as interim comptroller following the departure of Susan Paprocki just before the final budget was approved.
Commissioners will consider accepting a Community Development Block Grant to rehabilitate housing and enter into a memorandum of agreement with the Rural Nevada Development Corporation to assist low income homeowners make repairs.
A letter of support for Connect Nevada’s pursuit of funding to expand broadband access is on the agenda.
The direct sale of the Mount Moriah Cemetery in Manhattan will be discussed.
Commissioners will vote on ratifying testimony already made by Commissioner Lorinda Wichman to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee in support of the Public Land Renewable Energy Development Act of 2013.
Dean Mark Walker will give an update on the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Service.
The board will hear reports from the Nevada Land Management Task Force and the Mojave-Southern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council.
A memorandum of agreement with the Federal Highway Administration for the rebuilding of .8 miles of Main Street in Manhattan is up for approval. Commissioners will also consider purchasing three motor graders from Cashman Equipment Company.
