County to consider sheriff’s review board

Nye County commissioners will consider creating a peace officer advisory review board when they meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday in commissioner’s chambers at 2100 Walt Williams Dr. on the Calvada Eye.

In other matters, commissioners will vote on a memorandum of understanding with the Federal Aviation Administration to prepare an environmental impact statement for the proposed Pahrump Valley Airport.

A plan by the sheriff for spending the half-cent sales tax increase that went into effect in April will be up for approval. Half of the funds go to the sheriff’s department, the other half is earmarked for county fire protection under a ballot question passed by voters in November 2006.

The bill draft request Nye County can submit for the 2015 state legislative session is up for consideration. Previously county commissioners discussed submitting a BDR setting a salary for the public administrator.

A resolution of intent to sell property at 1683 E. Calvada Blvd. where a developer has plans to build an assisted living center is on the agenda. The property is between Health Care Partners urgent care center and the University of Nevada, Reno Cooperative Extension Service.

The Nye County Licensing and Liquor Board will consider a request by Mack Moore, owner of Angel’s Ladies Brothel in Beatty, to surrender his license.

A bill that will allow the county to abate environmental nuisances on property held in trust for delinquent taxes is up for approval.

County commissioners will consider a request for a master plan amendment and non-conforming zone change for 29.26 acres owned by Harris Limited near Fuchia Street and Oakridge Avenue. Another master plan amendment would change four acres from general commercial to low density residential for properties on Tequila Way.

A request by Commissioner Lorinda Wichman to purchase a window at the Belmont courthouse for $3,000 is up for approval.

The transfer of the county’s 2014 Private Activity Bond Cap is up for approval.

Commissioners will consider a letter opposing a second draft of the Nevada Sagebrush Landscape Conservation and Economic Development Act of 2014, sponsored by U.S. Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev. and U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev.

The release of all but 15 percent of the financial security related to the subdivision improvement agreement for the Mountain Falls Tivoli subdivision Unit 1 and Unit 2 is up for approval.

Commissioners are scheduled to set a date, time and location for a public hearing on the adoption of the 2014 update of the Pahrump Regional Planning District master plan.
